As Michael Alig is finally transferred from Southport Correctional Facility, Elke Blair, otherwise known as Mom Alig has given us this exclusive interview. She is keen to receive correspondence direct - her mailing address can be found at the end of the interview.

WE'VE RECENTLY ASKED MICHAEL WHAT HE THINKS IT IS THAT SEES HIM ABLE TO CONTINUE TO COURT THE WORLD MEDIA. HIS ANSWER WAS 'MY DIMPLES'! WE THINK HE'S BEING RATHER MODEST HERE, AND WE WONDERED WHETHER YOU HAD ANY THOUGHTS AS TO WHY IT SEEMS SO MANY ARE FASCINATED BY HIM AND HIS ACHIEVEMENTS.

The reason Michael has always and still is fascinating the world media, and his so many friends, is because Michael is a REAL PERSON and not a phoney. Michael has a special place in his heart for people who feel they don't belong or who feel insecure about themselves. He makes them feel SPECIAL (and they are). Michael has a very special quality about him and has had ever since he was a child.

FROM WHAT WE CAN MAKE OUT YOU HAVE BEEN THE EPITOME OF THE SUPPORTIVE MOTHER OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS. THIS IS WHAT MOTHERS DO, BUT WHERE DID YOU GET THE STRENGTH? THERE MUST HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN YOU MUST HAVE THOUGHT YOU WERE IN A BAD NIGHTMARE AND COULDN'T WAIT TO WAKE UP.

The strength to go on when all this happened in '96 comes from the LOVE I feel for Michael. There were many times when I thought I would BREAK but knowing my son was suffering in prison with beatings by guards and inmates made me hold on because he needed me. I LOVE MY SON!

WE'VE SEEN YOU PARTYING WITH THE BEST OF THEM ON THE PARTY MONSTER DOCUMENTARY, AND YOU SEEM WELL SUITED FOR THE LIFESTYLE. HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU TRAVELLED TO NEW YORK CITY THAT FIRST TIME TO BE WITH YOUR SON KNOWING THAT HE WAS BEING CELEBRATED AS ONE OF NEW YORK'S FINEST?

I never ever thought about anything being special when travelling to NYC. I just went…had fun and was so very proud of my Michael. It just came as a natural thing…the Parties…the dancing…the glitter.

MICHAEL HAS SOME VERY LOYAL FRIENDS AND IT HAS BEEN THESE, PLUS YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT THAT HAS SEEN HIM THROUGH SOME VERY DARK DAYS. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY ABOUT THESE FRIENDS?

I would like to say to all Michael's loyal friends that because of their support he was able to go on in prison. Michael is a PEOPLE PERSON and he needs his friends. I want to thank them all from the bottom of my heart…God bless them!

SO, MICHAEL WILL SOON BE OUT OF SOUTHPORT. MICHAEL PAINTS AN AWFUL PICTURE OF THE PLACE, THAT WOULDN'T PROVIDE INMATES WITH BASIC MEDICAL CARE. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PLACE?

Southport…the HELL HOLE OF PRISONS…which I now have a whole filing cabinet of correspondence of pertaining to my letters to the Facility…begging them to get medical help from them. Some of my letters went to Hilary Clinton, Indiana Congressman Tim Roemer, New York State Assembly, State Commission of Corrections; New York State, Department of Health Office of Medical Conduct…and those are just a few.

WE ASKED MICHAEL WHO HE'D LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH AND HE ANSWERED ANGEL! HE DOES SEEM TO BE TACKLING THE WHOLE EVENT WITH A MATURITY POSSIBLY LACKING A FEW YEARS AGO. MAYBE IT'S TO DO WITH BEING SOBER. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AT THE DINNER WITH MICHAEL AND ANGEL, AND WHY?

Yes, I would like to be there at the dinner with Angel, because he would be alive, his MOTHER would still have her son and Michael would not have been in jail. BUT at the same time, would Michael be alive today? He was forced to give up drugs and he very well could have died from an overdose!

YOU HAVE ANOTHER SON. WE HAVE CORRESPONDED OVER THE YEARS AND HE PLACED A VERY TOUCHING MESSAGE ON THE WEBSITE THAT SIMPLY SAID, ' I LOVE MY BROTHER'. HOW HAS MICHAEL'S PREDICAMENT AFFECTED YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR OTHER SON?

Michael's brother David has become closer to him and our relationship has NOT suffered. Just the opposite has happened. I love David even more today because he has been there for us all through this nightmarish time.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE PARTY MONSTER MOVIE WITH MACAULEY CULKIN, AND IF SO, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT?

I have not seen PARTY MONSTER the movie.

IF YOU HAVEN'T, WE HEARD THAT YOU WERE NOT AT ALL PLEASED THAT WORLD OF WONDER DECIDED TO CALL IT PARTY MONSTER LIKE THE DOCUMENTARY, WHY?

PEOPLE SEEM TO EITHER LOVE MICHAEL ALIG OR HATE HIM! WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS THE CASE?

Michael has an extreme personality that people are either attracted to or repulsed by. It's been that way since he was a child. Perhaps it's his brutal honesty or his fearlessness in being himself. Some find that threatening. Of course those are also the reasons people love him.

MICHAEL RECEIVES HUNDREDS OF LETTERS A MONTH. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO SAY TO THOSE THAT WRITE TO HIM? IS THERE SOMETHING THEY SHOULD BE AWARE OF?
